Need for Speed fans should take note that Need for Speed Rivals is shutting down on October 7. First released in 2013, Need for Speed Rivals was developed by Ghost Games and Criterion Games and earned mostly positive reviews. Appreciation for Need for Speed Rivals only grew as its sequels were released to a less-than-stellar reception, something the franchise hasn’t really recovered completely from even now.
Need for Speed Rivals earned particular praise for its online multiplayer functionality. Using the AllDrive feature, Need for Speed Rivals allows players to experience its open world with others, while also featuring more traditional online racing game modes. Sadly, time is running out for fans that want to continue enjoying Need for Speed Rivals‘ online multiplayer, as the server shutdown date is right around the corner.
The Need for Speed Rivals servers will be shutting down on Tuesday, October 7. From that point forward, Need for Speed fans will no longer be able to enjoy any of Rivals‘ online features. There will still be offline content available to play, but since the game was largely built with online multiplayer in mind, it will effectively be dead. Needless to say, anyone that has yet to get their fill of Need for Speed Rivals‘ online multiplayer should make sure to play as much as possible between now and when it’s shut down on October 7.
