The Blues' poor form continued as they went down 2-1 against Legia Warsaw at Stamford Bridge on Thursday in the second leg of their Conference League quarter-final. The defeat against the Polish club was even more humiliating as Enzo Maresca had almost fielded a full-strength squad. After the match, Chelsea skipper James refused to give any excuse as he made a worrying admission about the team.
WHAT REECE JAMES SAID
Speaking to reporters, the English full-back said: "We have no excuses. Today was not progress. If anything, it was a step back. It’s going to affect the mindset. It’s going to be in the back of people’s heads. We lost when we shouldn’t have lost."
The Blues stars were booed off by the home fans at full-time, but James expressed his sympathy for the supporters. He added: "I understand the frustration, to be honest. Fans come to games to see excitement and goals. We were frustrating to watch."
