The 25-year-old made headlines in 2022 after his blockbuster £81.3 million ($110 million) move to Old Trafford from Ajax, becoming the second-costliest signing in the club’s history. Despite the hefty investment, Antony’s impact in the Premier League fell drastically short of expectations, with just a single goal to his name in the first round of the 2024-25 season before departing for Betis in the winter.

After joining Betis on loan in the January transfer window, Antony has rediscovered the form that made him a coveted prospect in Europe. In 25 appearances for the Spanish outfit, the winger has notched up nine goals and five assists, playing a crucial role in helping Betis reach the Conference League final.
WHAT PELLEGRINI SAID
Speaking to reporters, Pellegrini said: "I think that Anthony did all that he could to do. I spoke with him before he came to Betis. He told me that he was not playing because he was not happy. Also, he wanted revenge. We know he can do it, but it is not easy when you pay 100m for a player. Antony is a great player, and it was a good time in Betis, improving in his career."

"We don't believe it is David and Goliath," he said. "I think tomorrow we will have exactly the same opportunity to win the match."
The club have never won a European competition, making Wednesday’s fixture a historic occasion for the Seville-based side.
